Visit and explore history Duyong Island is an experience that is really exciting and full of discoveries. The island is not only famous for its historical heritage, but also for its soothing natural beauty. This made me want to know more about this unique area of the island that has its own treasures. Therefore, I would like to share my personal experience while exploring and knowing a little bit about the historical area in Pulau Duyong, Kuala Terengganu.
On a sunny morning, I started my journey to Pulau Duyong by taking a boat from the Shahbandar jetty at Kuala Terengganu. If you follow, you can take a car and go near the Sultan Mahmud Bridge, but people say they want the "atmosphere" of going on a boat to have an experience once in a while. Just feeling the breeze of the language and the beautiful scenery along the way made my heart even more excited to reach the destination.
Arrived at Duyong Island
As soon as I arrived at Pulau Duyong, I was greeted with a calm and peaceful village atmosphere. Traditional Malay houses which is located next to the river adds to the uniqueness of this island. I continued towards my first destination, viz Duyong Old City. This historic city is under guard Terengganu State Museum.
Visiting the Old City of Duyong
Duyong Old City is a fascinating place with its historical architecture. I was greeted with the sight of beautiful wooden buildings, with delicate carvings that reflect the delicacy of Malay architecture. I took the time to explore every corner of this city, admiring the beauty and uniqueness of its architecture and history. This historic building has been taken the initiative to rebuild by the party Ministry of Culture and Arts after suffering severe damage due to floods in 1986. Now, Kota Lama Duyong has been open to the public since 2005, allowing visitors to witness the beauty of the unique traditional Malay architecture.
View a Boat Making Demonstration
After visiting Kota Lama Duyong, I had the opportunity to see a demonstration of traditional boat making by local carpenters. Their skill and efficiency in making boats using cengal wood is amazing. I also had the opportunity to chat with them and learn a little about the complicated process of boat making.
Walk Around Duyong Island Resort
One of the resorts close to Duyong Island is Duyong Marina & Resort. This resort is located right on Pulau Duyong, Kuala Terengganu, and offers various facilities and a relaxing experience for visitors. I just walked around the resort and next to it there is the Pulau Duyong jetty. The view is so wide and I can see Drawbridge Terengganu from here. The scenery is quite interesting for photography and videography enthusiasts.
Enjoy the Beach View
After exploring and learning, I took the opportunity to relax on the beach of Pulau Duyong. The clean white sand and clear sea water provide incredible tranquility. I spent time here walking along the beach, taking pictures, and enjoying the beauty of nature.
Try Local Food in Duyong Island
Sebelum pulang, saya tidak melepaskan peluang untuk mencuba beberapa makanan tempatan yang dijual di gerai-gerai berhampiran. Nasi dagang dan keropok lekor yang enak menjadi penutup sempurna untuk perjalanan saya. Rasanya yang begitu original dan sedap benar-benar memuaskan selera. Banyak lagi tempat makan disini seperti Restoran Pulau Duyong Ikan Bakar, Restoran Shifaa Tomyam Ala Thai dan banyak lagi. Sebagai tambahan, jika anda ingin nak merasa makan buffet, Duyong Marina & Resort menawarkan buffet setiap hari Jumaat pukul 4 petang sehingga 9 malam. The trip to Pulau Duyong was an experience I will never forget. The natural beauty, the rich history, and the friendliness of the local people make this tour very special. Pulau Duyong is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to experience the uniqueness and beauty of Terengganu's culture.
